Un(Green) Box
A third component of Delay consists of 1 boxed sets of various scale models, drawings, scientific scans, notes, etc. that went into the making Delay. The boxes are also a bit of a homage to Marcel Duchamp’s Green Box, which consists of his notes for The Large Glass. All aspects of the piece’s making then are presented as a metaphor for the attempt to understand the essence of painting (or, in other words: something one loves). And, as is the theme in some of my earlier works, and as is with all things and people dear to us: even with so much sensory information—even with the addition of this new scientific data—poignant gaps are bound to remain, which I and my collaborator Florian Grond hope will propel further investigation.
