Along with her individual studio practice, Mary Sherman is the founder of the award-winning, artist collective, now 501(c)(3) nonprofit, TransCultural Exchange. In that capacity, she has produced and served as the lead artist for the organization’s dozens of projects, which often involve hundreds of artists around the globe. All these projects stress cross-cultural understanding, mutual respect, and solidary as antidotes to combat division and hatred, which inevitably weaken and sap humanity’s strengths – something all too apparent today. For this reason, she divides her studio practice between her own work (see Works in the left-hand navigation) and that for TransCultural Exchange.
All of TransCultural Exchange’s recent projects can be found here and past projects here. A handful of the more notable projects, which she either led and/or produced on behalf of TransCultural Exchange (for example, her proposal for the World Trade Competition) are included in the TransCultural Exchange submenu in the left-hand navigation.
In addition, in the left-hand navigation, are a sampling of exhibitions she curated, plus projects other artists have asked her to collaborate on.
